The Ottawa Real Estate Board says the average price of condominiums sold last month jumped 10.8 per cent to $193,932 from $175,015 in January 2005. The number of condos changing hands fell 4.5 per cent, as real estate agents completed 128 condo transactions last month.
Overall, the Real Estate Board says 653 residential properties were sold last month, down 2.2 per cent from January 2005 levels.
The average price of all homes sold last month - both single-family and condominiums - rose 1.5 per cent to $244,075.
Board president Ron Levine says prospective homebuyers have plenty of listings to choose from.
"The inventory of properties available for sale is about nine percent higher than this time in 2005. The Ottawa real estate market is indeed 'steady going' and is showing signs of similar activity to 2005."
